Inclusion and Social Housing Practice in Canadian Cities 2007

Canadian Policy Research Networks and Social Housing Services Corporation released this research project which analyzes the policy, planning and design processes that led to the creation of three recent socially-mixed projects.
The research focuses on 3 projects:
The first case study investigates the realization of the Lavo - NO. V. O project in the Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough of Montreal, Quebec, a mediaum-denisty mixed-income project comprising co-op housing for families, non-profit housing for singles as well as affordable and market-rate condominiums;
The second case study describes the planning and design of the Blue Heron Co-operative in the Kanata Ward of the City of Ottawa. The project is of medium-denisty and comprises market-rate, BMR as well as RGI units, distributed between a medium-sized apartment building and a number of row houses;
The third and final case study looks at the Millbroook Place project in Mississauga, Ontario in the Region of Peel. Millbrook is a high-denisty project which includes 120 senior suites as well as 43 bachlor units tarteted at the working poor. Half of the senior units are RGI, and the bachelor units are priced at approximately 70% of the market-rate.
